Job description

We are looking for an experienced people manager who has successfully supervised long distance driver delivery operations.  You must have a passion for safety, customer service and efficiency.  Your desire to drive a continuous improvement culture with your team sees you look for efficiencies within the operation and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively drive a safety 1st culture by
  • ensuring all COR (Mass, Dimension & Fatigue)  requirements are complied with.
  • all incidents, hazards & defects are reported immediately.
  • all corrective actions are acted upon in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring delivery on our service commitment are met for delivery on time and pick up on time. 
  • Lead driver and vehicle planning to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate and manage sub-contractor’s requirements and engagement.
  • Manage costs and budgets to improve business performance. 
  • Be pivotal in customer relationship management ensuring customer are kept informed of any service issues 
  • Be action orientated to drive results
  • Ensure all OHS legislative requirements are adhered to 
  • Develop your team with the purpose of improving performance
  • Ensure your team uses our GPS and transport management system correctly

The ideal candidate?

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to respond in a fast-paced environment with a positive can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills. 

This is an exciting role where the successful applicant will have an opportunity to further their career in a leading WA provider of temperature-controlled transport & logistics and  will require:

  • Minimum 3 year’s demonstrated supervisory or management experience in a similar role within transport. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the legislation and laws relating to the operation of heavy vehicles, transportation, fatigue management and vehicle weight restrictions .
  • Good analytical, reporting, planning skills for efficient route and load planning with high attention to detail and cost management. 
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deal with multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Understanding and application of OHS legislation and safety leadership. 
  • Solid experience leading and engaging large teams.
  • Be flexible with working hours.
