Opes is undertaking sustainment services for a Tier 1 military integrator, located in South Australia. The highly cleared (AGSVA NV2) team manages a bespoke on-premises private cloud system supporting software development activities.
Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux Engineer / Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. As a Linux Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining a fleet of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) workstations and servers that support software development activities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Linux SOEs for both user endpoints and servers.
- Automate deployment processes and develop scripts to streamline provisioning and configuration management tasks.
- Ensure security compliance by implementing appropriate measures, including software patching, vulnerability assessment, and access control.
- Document all technical processes, procedures, and configurations to facilitate knowledge transfer and provide reference materials for future projects.
Skills
- Expertise in managing RHEL SOEs, including the use of Red Hat Satellite.
- Experience with endpoint configuration management tools such as Tanium or MECM.
- Solid understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and provisioning tasks.
- Experience with configuring security tools and policies within Linux (e.g. SELinux).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and industry best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Windows and Horizon View highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a SOE Engineer or similar role in an enterprise-level environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer) would be advantageous.
