About the role

HCF Australia is undertaking a series of strategic initiatives to deliver new business capabilities to meet its member first strategic plan. These initiatives include leveraging a set of new HCF's core IT systems and implementing digital capabilities to deliver an enhanced customer experience. The DevOps team is key to this strategy and will enable HCF to better deliver applications and services in an agile and streamlined manner across the organisation. As a key member of the DevOps team, you will be developing, implementing, and integrating DevOps processes and tooling for Linux based systems and applications. Investigate and analyse current processes for automation and operationalisation. Support the existing Linux systems deployment operations to ensure delivery continuity. Your efforts will be instrumental in providing HCF the ability to deliver with Speed, Reliability, Security and Scale. This is a 2 year max term opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with business users, technical analysts, solution architects and developers to understand needs and requirements for projects and support enterprise CI/CD initiative and tasks.
  • Assist in the management and implementation of new systems/infrastructure throughout the planning, config, build, test & deployment phases.
  • Identify areas for automation when working with existing/new Linux based systems and products.
  • Maintain existing integration and delivery pipelines and ensure processes are standardised and reused.
  • Maintain, configure, and develop environments in support of development and production. This ranges from greenfield to full stack brownfield environments.
  • Reduce the time it takes to build, deploy, and configure software to all environments.
  • Joint owner of all development and release tooling, processes, and architecture.
  • Support existing Linux Application/Systems from a deployment and operations perspective to ensure operational continuity.
  • Assists in developing application monitoring solutions across cloud and on-prem solutions.
  • Collaborate with the test team to continue improving testing methods, practices, and capabilities.
  • Work with development and operations teams to offer automation as a service across domains, products, and services.
  • Conducts unit testing, support during system testing and implementation activities for difficult and complex programs.
  • Challenge existing processes and practices to continuously drive efficiencies and technology delivery performance.

About you:

To be successful in the role you will have the following:

  • The position requires appropriate tertiary qualifications and experience in DevOps & Automation.
  • Minimum 3 years DevOps and Linux experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD frameworks. Azure DevOps is preferred.
  • Proven Linux administration experience. Experience with Redhat/Suse Linux is advantageous.
  • Experience in supporting large scale Linux based systems and applications.
  • Strong Linux scripting experience. Experience across shells e.g. Bash,sh,ksh,csh is welcomed.
  • Experience in DevOps programming and scripting languages e.g., Golang, Bash, Perl, Python.
  • Proven experience in working with hosting platforms such as AWS, Azure and Vmware.
  • Experience with DevOps orchestration and automation tools. Experience in Terraform, Ansible is advantageous.
  • Experience with application monitoring & reporting tools. Splunk, App Dynamics is advantageous.
  • Familiarisation with containerisation. Docker or Kubernetes experience is advantageous.
  • Proven experience of deployment & release management
  • Proven problem solving, including investigation, analysis, and solution implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge of SDLC and CICD processes
  • Solid understanding of testing environments and migration paths
  • Experience in understanding the needs from technical as well as end user perspective.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts.
  • Experience in Agile development methodology/Scrum is preferred.
  • Experience with full lifecycle of a project including business & Customer requirement gathering, workshop facilitation throughout the successful delivery of each piece of work.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering excellent and high-quality technical documentations and drawings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on effective client relationships
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent attention to details
