AddressA busy and diverse family-operated farming enterprise located just fifty kilometres from Geelong is seeking a Livestock Manager to oversee the composite sheep flock for Prime Lamb production and Stud Cattle operation. Your focus will be the 7,000 ewes and 1,200 stud Angus breeders; although stud experience and knowledge are desired, applicants with strong commercial sheep and cattle experience are encouraged to apply as training and mentoring can be provided for the stud element.
Reporting directly to the hands-on owner, you will be responsible for all flock and herd management elements, your permanent staff, and additional casuals during busy periods. Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills will be required as you collaborate with the owner, cropping Manager, suppliers, and contractors and interact with buyers regularly.
Great pride has been taken in the recent extensive renovation of the yard complex, making the working of livestock a pleasurable experience; additional land has also been recently purchased for the forward-moving enterprise, which annually provides 300 bulls to the market via auctions and private sale. Attention to detail and precise record-keeping abilities will be required, particularly with the AI and ET programs. Although the Angus stud is the crowning jewel of the enterprise, it is imperative for the successful candidate also to have a keen and equal dedication to the commercial flock with knowledge of rations as the Prime Lambs are finished on site. All stock movements are predominantly conducted with motorbikes and side-by-sides, and it is essential for applicants to have their own quality working dogs.

- Stud stock management knowledge (desirable but not essential)
