Position Overview
The Livestock Overseer will be responsible for the day-to-day management and welfare of the Merino operations producing 16 – 18-micron wool. This is a pivotal role requiring a depth of understanding of Merino wool, exceptional organisational capabilities, and effective leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising all facets of wool enterprise management, encompassing feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and vaccination protocols.
- Providing guidance, training, and supervision to the team.
- Collaborating closely with classers and animal health specialists to ensure highest standards of sustainable wool production.
- Maintaining accurate and current livestock records and data.
- Implementing and upholding rigorous biosecurity measures
- Monitoring industry trends and market developments to optimise livestock production and profitability.
- Demonstrated experience in livestock management and husbandry.
- Proficient in leadership and team management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal proficiencies.
- Familiarity with agricultural regulations and biosecurity practices.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances and ability to make informed decisions.
- Relevant certifications in agriculture, livestock management, or related fields.
