AddressFulltime position on a successful, family-owned farm with centre-pivot irrigation of summer crops (cotton & corn) and beef cattle production in the Bonshaw/Texas area. The farm is based in the Goondiwindi and Inverell local government areas. The livestock operation consists of an Angus breeding herd joined to Angus & Wagyu bulls on native & subtropical pastures, with progeny & other trade cattle finished on forage crops.
Girraween operates with modern machinery and watering systems, embracing new technologies, sustainable farming & grazing methods. The farm has first-class livestock handing facilities. There is a safe workplace culture & a healthy work-life balance for all employees is a priority.
The role is hands-on & focused on the livestock operation, with regular opportunities to also work across the cropping operation & development aspects of the business. The role has potential for increased scope and responsibility.
Experience in intensive grazing management systems, low-stress livestock handling & working dogs would be an advantage, along with good all-round farm skills and willingness to learn and grow with the business. The ability to think strategically, clean living habits, passion for the livestock industry & strong communication skills are highly valued by the employer.
A 3 bedroom renovated home with aircon is included with the position. The home is located on-farm, close to the Dumaresq River (numerous fishing & recreational spots on farm) and is close to the friendly community of Texas, schools and bus run. Glen Lyon Dam is also nearby.
