About the Role

Based at BMA’s Peak Downs Mine Site in Central Queensland. The Production Execution team are on a continuous improvement journey, our successful candidates will be committed to learning and assisting with maintaining industry best practice.

This is a permanent role working on a 6:6 or 7:7 roster with flexible travel arrangements.

This opportunity is well suited to those who enjoys a challenge, are safety focused, and have leadership capability. Your experience as a supervisor leading a team shaping processes and contributing to meeting and exceeding targets will ensure your success. 

In this role you will:

  • Execute production activities to plan through the management of people and equipment
  • Lead, coach and mentor a crew of multi skilled operators to deliver the plan and build a high-performance team
  • Identify improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure efficiency and production is maximised

About You

As a Load & Haul Supervisor you will be responsible for leading a team of multi-disciplined Operators including Truck and Excavator Operators in executing the mine plan, achieving safe and optimal outcomes for the Production mining team. You will be actively involved in field leadership activities and engaging your team to reach their full potential. The role will be supervising a team performing Pre-Strip (overburden), wedge and coal mining activities.

Energetic and committed, you work well with challenges, bringing attention to detail and an ability to meet multiple deadlines. You relate well with people, communicate confidently, and build collaborative working relationships. Your ability to engage and build trust with your reports and be a champion for change will help you deliver on your commitments and will position you well for future career opportunities.

Our successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a large coal mine
  • Prior experience in coal mining
  • Possess S1, S2, S3 and G2 certification  
  • Will have an understanding and exposure a Production Department of an Open Cut Mine Site environment
  • Have a desire to lead, coach and mentor a crew to deliver the plan and build high performing teams
  • Understand BHP systems and processes
  • Experience with Mine Star would be advantageous and
  • Able to identify improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with other departments.
