Find out more and .The NDISThe National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports people with disability to participate in and contribute to improving social and economic life, as well as provide certainty that people with disability will receive the care and support, they need over their lifetime. The NDIS provides multiple ways to assist people with disability to exercise choice, including taking reasonable risks in the pursuit of their goals and the planning and delivery of their supports. One of the ways this is done is through Local Area Coordination (LAC). For more information, please visit .Your OpportunityBased in Rosny Park, Hobart as a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) you will work in partnership with the NDIA to connect with people with disability seeking support, or continuing access with the NDIS. Working within legislation and contractual KPIs, you will undertake individualised goal-mapping and build relationships to understand peoples, preferences, and goals and with that information, connect people to supports, communities, services, and opportunities.Your Key ResponsibilitiesWork alongside people living with disability to increase their independence and their social and economic participation.Develop honest and trusting relationships with participants, inclusive of families and carers, while maintaining professional boundaries and LAC principles.Maintain and always expanding knowledge of community and mainstream supports available in all Local Government Areas within the service region of South East Tasmania.Support participants to navigate and build knowledge on the community, mainstream services, and the NDIS.Provide Information and answer questions about the NDIS from participants, their families, and carers about the scheme and how to connect with providers.Support people with disability to develop a Community Connections plan; apply for access to the NDIS or use their existing NDIS funded supports.Collect and record accurate information to support NDIA decision making and development of the NDIS plan.Deliver community engagement, education, and capacity building activities to support community access and inclusion.Maintain compliance with performance measures and timeframes as set out by NDIA standard operating practices.Requirements for SuccessWith a significant background in the disability sector of community services, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes. Other requirements include:Ideally tertiary qualified in Community Services and/or experience in a community services position or similar industry.Prior experience partnering in the community with the NDIS would be desirable, or experience in working with people living with disability, their families, and carers.Person centred, culturally aware approach with the ability to explain complex information and manage conflict.Exceptional administration skills and the ability to prepare reports and documentation working in a highly regulated environment.Excellent organisation and time management, with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.Proficient at developing and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of people to innovate and achieve positive outcomes.NDIS Worker Screen Clearance and NDIA On-Boarding requirementsFull driver license with no restrictions.Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.Our CultureOur innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritize the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
