About the role
We are currently seeking a Low Carbon Materials Strategy and Implementation Manager to join the Laing O’Rourke Australia hub / our Low Carbon Materials Team on a six-month secondment / fixed term contract.
This role will be working with the Laing O’Rourke sustainability, technical and commercial stakeholders to develop and deliver materials-related decarbonisation strategy across the global organisation. This includes research, strategic planning, roadmap development, scoping and prioritisation of strategic sustainability initiatives and the delivery of these initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Support our materials decarbonisation strategy development (Scope 3 category 1) including research and exploratory work, roadmap development, prioritisation of initiatives for implementation as well as implementation and scaling.
Design, monitor and report on one or more initiatives, including delivery of key outcomes
Technical understanding and critical assessment of emerging products, technologies and business proposals suited to Scope 3 decarbonisation, particularly materials – mature and next gen.
Challenge aspects that limit progress towards materials decarbonisation from a well-considered and evidence-based technical and practical perspective.
Work with customers, suppliers, industry bodies and other organisations to explore low embodied carbon offerings that suit customer needs.
Development of sound, evidence-based recommendations, delivered with compelling and effective communication.
Leverage best practice for research, analysis, strategic planning, technical engineering and project/portfolio management and proactively knowledge share
About you
Experience in a technical, technology, innovation or consultancy role, ideally related to decarbonisation of infrastructure (design and /or materials).
Engineering and/or relevant technical background, with preferred knowledge base across topics such as: Low Carbon products and construction materials (concrete and steel), clean technology, carbon accounting
Excellent communication skills, knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to navigate complexity, learn new information, excellent self-management.
