About the role:

The Rolling Stock Maintenance team is currently seeking a Maintainer to join them on a 7 Days on, 7 Nights on, 14 Day off Roster based at Port Hedland. Reporting to the Rolling stock Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the rail car fleet to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications and performing wheel set machining (training provided), in accordance with workshop procedures and instructions.

Duties:

• Working as part of the wagon maintenance team to carry out safe, efficient, and prompt inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs of equipment.
• Rolling stock examination to perform required in-field maintenance as well as ensure wagons are fit for traffic (including derailment recovery)
• Maintenance, diagnostics, servicing and repair of bogies, couplers, knuckles, draft gear, and ECP braking system
• Wheel set machining programs will be maintained on time and not result in any delays for the return to traffic for rolling stock

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience with the operation and maintenance of ore cars. Fuel tank cars, ballast cars, side dump cars and ancillary equipment desirable. 
• Australian Recognised Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter/Machinist/Boilermaker highly desirable)
• Valid WA C class driver’s licence
• High Risk Work License (including forklift, dogging, overhead gantry crane, working at heights and elevated work platform) is desirable
