This is a full-time position however part time will also be considered.

The position
This position sits within the (AEU) within the Resource and Environmental Regulation (RER) Group, established to coordinate and deliver the departments Aboriginal Empowerment Initiative (AEI).
This initiative will be delivered through four components, reflecting the elements in the Aboriginal Empowerment Strategy:

  • Partnerships, shared decision-making and engagement.
  • Reshaping government services and systems to work with culture.
  • Building the cultural responsiveness of the public sector workforce.
  • Expanding economic opportunities.
In this role you will strategically lead a team dedicated to implementing key components of the Aboriginal Empowerment Initiative (AEI).
Partnerships, shared decision-making and engagement
Lead and drive state wide on-Country engagement, fostering genuine and respectful two-way partnerships to allow Aboriginal communities formal channels to have their say and access to DMIRS regional offices to meet, listen and provide information.
Expanding economic opportunities
Dedicated to strengthening procurement processes by providing guidance and resources for the department, raising profiles of Aboriginal owned businesses, and promoting DEMIRS as a contract of choice.
To excel in the role, you should possess a proven track record of leading and developing, reviewing, implementing innovative programs/strategies/policies or similar initiatives aligned to Aboriginal Engagement and supporting Economic Development opportunities.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are also essential, as you will collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Aboriginal communities and Traditional owner groups, industry and private sector groups.
