We deliver 21 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents.

Job description:

The role

You will oversee the development, management, and administration of Council's assurance framework. This includes responsibilities such as managing the Internal Audit function, conducting third line assurance activities, overseeing risk management, maintaining internal controls, managing integrity functions, and fulfilling statutory responsibilities related to the Council's Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide strategic leadership through mentoring, coaching, performance management and offering development support to ensure that the delivery of services is consistent and of high quality.
  • Oversee the operations of Council's Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee in accordance with statutory requirements and the Office of Local Government's Guidelines.
  • Provide independent and objective advice to the CEO and Executive, and the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee concerning Council's governance processes, risk management and internal control frameworks, business improvement and its external accountability obligations.
  • Establish and oversee Council's probity services/requirements, ensuring the assessment of risk and procedural integrity.
  • Oversee Council's investigation requirements/function, including, investigating sensitive compliance, performance and operational matters and provide independent and objective advice.

You will have

  • Completed relevant tertiary qualifications and post graduate qualifications (CPA/CA Program)
  • Membership - Institute of Internal Auditors
  • NSW Drivers Licence
  • Extensive experience managing an internal audit function in a similar multidisciplinary organisation and or government sector.
  • Extensive experience in carrying out complex/sensitive investigations.
