The current manager is retiring from this position that together with the expansion of the Defence contract a national role is now available. Recognising the importance of this role you will have the guidance of the existing staff member to train, teach and provide support over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition of knowledge.
You will be responsible for adding value, providing high level leadership and management across the Driver Machinery & Plant Training section at Wodonga TAFE Institute.
You do not need experience in providing adult learning solutions within the heavy vehicle transport sector however it would be a bonus; we are simply looking for a quality manager to lead the existing departmental plans and strategies that underpin the strategic direction and growth of Wodonga TAFE within the Driver Machinery & Plant Training Sector for Defence.
This position is based in Puckapunyal if you are local fabulous if not, we are seeking candidates from the northern suburbs or Melbourne based that will be required to travel to Puckapunyal more frequently in the initial training phase thereafter however a hybrid flexible solution will be implemented.
As with any managerial role you will be required to travel from time to time with additional hours as required.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial, security, training delivery compliance, and performance contract obligations are met across the DMPT Defence Contract nationally.

- The incumbent is a primary source of expert advice and information regarding the operation of the DMPT business unit for the Executive team and the Institute. The Manager will make a significant contribution to strategic directions of the DMPT business unit.
- Under the broad direction of the Director Defence Delivery, the incumbent is required to manage the DMPT business unit in a manner that contributes to the overall growth of the Institute and the achievement of the DMPT business objectives.
- For day-to-day DMPT business unit matters, the incumbent acts with a high degree of authority and autonomy in the setting of priorities, in achieving results and meeting agreed financial targets.
- Promote a psychologically safe work environment for all team members
- Ensure efficient and effective operations across multiple national sites.
- Meet all of the delivery and reporting requirements of the DMPT contract.
- Ensure adherence to, and compliance with, Wodonga TAFE’s internal policies and procedures
- Assisting in implementing and improving governance and other processes within the DMPT team to apply and continuously improve legal & regulatory compliance, contractual management processes and operational processes and reporting.

Essential:
- Bachelor qualification in Business Administration / Management and experience in a similar field; or less formal qualifications with substantial experience and management expertise in an Administration/Business Management role.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes, including sound commercial knowledge and experience
- Must be eligible for a Defence Security Pass maintaining Baseline Security Clearance.
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check.
- Current Victorian Working with Children Check or prepared to obtain.
- Current valid Driver's Licence
- Must be an Australian citizen.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated experience to act as a business partner in support of a collaborative Leadership Team to initiate actions and improve initiatives in line with departmental and strategic plans.
- Experience in Managing Culture in Nationally disbursed teams.
- Experience in the management of and operation of Australian Defence Force contracts.
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary road safety issues.
