The diversity of skills, life experiences and perspectives within our team enhances our way of working and our ability to achieve success together.About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Manager Forecasting to orchestrate the RTIO integrated system supply forecast which includes optimising production and maintenance profiles across 17 sites, over 19 kilometres of railway and 4 port terminals to produce a portfolio of products for our customers. The Manager Forecasting plays a critical role in directing the areas of focus for the operations in order to mitigate value chain risk and unlock opportunities for value creation in the short term.This is a great opportunity to have an impact on every part of the Rio Tinto's value chain while growing your career within a global mining company.Reporting to the General Manager of Integrated Scheduling and Planning (ISP) in a collaborative team environment you will:
  • Be responsible for delivering executable and optimised supply forecasts across the value chain to deliver best-for-business outcomes
  • Lead a team of highly capable, experienced supply chain professionals and create an inclusive, diverse, and psychologically safe environment for them to thrive
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with senior stakeholders across the business to develop an integrated view of the RTIO supply forecast and alignment against the key areas of focus to ensure the forecast is delivered
  • Develop a realistic view of production capacities for all assets across the integrated system which is then utilised to provide the business with an accurate forecast of future performance
  • Drive best practice forecasting solutions that enable trade-off decisions across the value chain, including embedding Sales & Operational Planning
  • Identify and ensure delivery of co-commitments required to deliver the forecast and to mitigate any risks or unlock opportunities
  • Support reconciliation of production performance and associated root causes of deviations and improvement opportunities
  • Embed a continuous improvement mindset ensuring that learnings are embedded from one forecasting cycle to this next and support the development of systems that improve business value and efficiency

  • Demonstrated experience across the iron ore supply chain
  • An understanding of value chain optimisation and system thinking, including trade off analysis
  • Commercial acumen
  • A proactive, continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to bring multiple stakeholders with competiting interests together to deliver an outcome
  • Ability to communicate effectively and impactfully to senior leaders
  • Tertiary level qualifications in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Marine, or transferable & complementary related field
  • Although not essential, it would be advantageous if you had exposure to data analytics packages and/or optimisation platforms
Where you'll be workingThis role will be primarily based at our Perth Operations Centre premises, however there will be a requirement to be located at our Central Park Office for various meetings and engagements with stakeholders. Additionally, occasional local and international travel may be required.What we offer
