Permanent full-time role, preferably in Sydney but open to Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth

As the Manager Group Assurance WHS & Environment, you will be responsible to lead and manage the delivery of the Workplace Health Safety (WHS) & Environment assurance framework, assurance plans, policies and programs for multiple AOC’s and business areas. This role will ensure that Group wide business stakeholders, Senior Management, the GMC and Board have clear visibility of safety issues and risks and then facilitate awareness, action and negate exposure.

The role provides independent and objective evaluations on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal (and external) control systems in various areas and functions of the Airline Group. It will also identify the controls needed to mitigate against Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental hazards and test their effectiveness through various assurance methods including audits. The role will advise business leaders on the presence and effectiveness of those controls and provide world class advice on strengthening the controls to minimise risk.

You’ll have –

10+ years delivering assurance frameworks/Assurance plans and audits
10+ years in Aviation/Transportation/Mining/Oli& Gas or other high-risk industries where control effectiveness is regularly tested
Qualification in WHS/Environmental Management/Quality Systems or a related discipline
Extensive stakeholder management and communication skills
Demonstrated oversight, and coordination in implementing Assurance Plans (or equivalent) and other compliance programs consistent with regulatory and industry requirements.
Demonstrated systems capability in compliance and assurance, guidance and coaching of leaders and corporate governance reporting.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results within a complex business environment.
A diverse leadership style that supports the development of talent throughout Qantas.
Demonstrated strong operational background in Operations management, Project management and People leadership.
Demonstrated experience managing complex programs of works within Assurance of Safety Management Systems
Knowledge of and experience working with National and International WHS and Environment Standards
