Manager - Group Control Room

The Group Control Room is a central function and is part of Compliance Risk Management for the CBA Group. Giving the team exposure to a broad range of products and client types.

The Group Control Room is responsible for monitoring and advising business activities, in particular where Conflicts of Interest are likely to arise. In particular the team looks to embed best practice for conflicts identification and management into the everyday activities of the businesses we support.

The Group Control Room provides valuable support to Line 1 and Line 2 businesses through:

  • increased awareness of conflicts of interest
  • strategic advice to prevent and manage conflicts of interest in policy and product development
  • management of Information Barrier arrangements, including deal trees, staff movements, chaperones and wall crossings
  • performing conflict checks, deep dive reviews and investigations in a timely manner
  • management of the Restricted List and Grey lists for PA Dealing and Research

Reporting to the Head of Group Control Room, the purpose of the role is to support the line 1 business to identify and manage conflicts of interest, and in particular to provide advice and support around Personal Account Dealing (PAD) Outside Business Interests (OBI) and Business Activity Conflicts (BAC).

This is a fixed term opportunity until late October, 2023.

Your day could look like but not limited to:
  • Regular Monitoring as part of the Compliance Monitoring Plan
  • ‘Deep dive’ investigations into potential breaches
  • Reporting and analysis of trends, employee conduct and business activities
  • Contributing to training materials on conflicts related topics and presenting
  • Advice and support on use of the Conflicts Hub System
  • Assist Line 1 teams in management of the Conflicts Hub system
  • Focus on other areas such as; Outside Business Interests, Gifts and Entertainment and Business Activity Conflicts

Additional requirements we’re looking for:
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage conflicts of interest.
  • Understanding of research, debt, equity and non-cash payment products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An inquisitive mind-set
  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Experience working in a control room or operations environment is highly desirable
  • Experience advising and influencing senior stakeholders on compliance matters
