The City of Melville Leisure Centres are high performing, progressive and innovative hubs in our community, providing a customer first approach, delivery of first-class services and facilities, and support to recreational clubs and facilities across a broad spectrum of activities events.

We seek a dynamic individual to lead an innovative, customer-centric, and high-performing team. This role is pivotal in fostering collaboration and driving a collective focus on enhancing community health and well-being. As the torchbearer of our commitment to a healthier community, you will lead a team of more than 160 staff to implement an innovative approach to ensure the team works collaboratively towards achieving the City’s strategic objectives, taking a customer first approach to designing operational improvements and reducing barriers to community participation in healthy activities.

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Healthy Melville service area, cultivating a high-performance culture through effective leadership and staff development, optimising resources to achieve exceptional outcomes in service delivery. 
  • Fostering high performance, and ensuring timely and customer-centric responses that embody the principles of our Customer First approach.
  • Leading and supporting the Service Area in collaborative efforts with other service areas, enhancing cross-organisational involvement for the delivery of community outcomes, fostering effective management of people and resources.
  • Leading and managing the development, implementation, and reviews of Healthy Melville strategies, policies, and procedures. Ensuring they remain contemporary, sustainable, and align with organisational needs, community expectations, legislation, and standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Business Management or one of the portfolio fields (community recreation development, health promotions, leisure planning) or extensive experience in a related field.
  • You will have demonstrated high level operational leadership experience in the management of leisure centres, recreation centres, and community hubs.
  • Significant demonstrated experience providing contemporary leadership and operational direction to a large team.
  • Current National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain
  • Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence
