Job Description
The Role
NextSense is recruiting for a full-time permanent Manager - Quality, Compliance & Legal reporting directly to Associate Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance.
Working within the Governance, Risk and Compliance team, this role will help lead and drive a strategic focus on positive client outcomes, compliance, quality, and risk management. This role is also key in the delivery of high quality legal, compliance and quality related advice and support to front-line service and enabler functions across the organisation.
You'll make a difference in this role by:
- Providing expert, specialist advice on compliance, policy, and legal matters to support regulatory compliance, best practice and support the organisation in delivering high quality client and educational outcomes.
- Develop, build, and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to influence and shape decision making on key issues and priorities and to ensure compliance across all NextSense sites;
- Support the Associate Director: GRC to design and implement an organisation wide Quality Assurance Framework.
- Lead and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation as part of the quality framework and plan of the organisation;
- Work with other members of the GRC team to develop, implement and maintain quality improvement plans and procedures that allow NextSense to meet industry standards, relevant legislation and provide current best practice guidelines;
- Take a lead role in the investigation and resolution of significant client, student, and family related complaints;
- Assume a lead role in investigating and root cause analysis on quality related incidents and development of QI action plans;
- Have a key focus on staff development across business sites in relation to quality and compliance roles and responsibilities;
- Ensure NextSense has systems and procedures in place at all sites for recording and responding to quality related incidents, issues, and improvement initiatives;
- Manage and oversee the preparation of high-quality reports, briefings, and other written correspondence in response to requests for information or advice and to support the development of compliance programs, policies, and strategies;
- Draft and review complex legal documents including contracts, commercial agreements, instruments, submissions, drafting instructions, briefing notes, internal policies and procedures, and instructions to external legal and other professional advisors to support NextSense operations; and
- Collaborate with members of the GRC team and other Directorates to develop and deliver legal and professional education, NDIS, Medicare and related training programs to internal and external stakeholders and clients to build capacity, support the implementation of key GRC initiatives across the organisation and within Directorates, and facilitate the provision of quality advice and services and a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.
Essential:
- Qualifications in law and be registered as a legal practitioner in NSW.
- Minimum 5 years PQE.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for NextSense communities and the disability sector.
- Ability to navigate multiple competing priorities and external stakeholder expectations.
- You are obliged to become familiar and comply with child protection and safeguarding policies and legislation, as amended from time to time.
- Valid working with children's check and criminal record check
- Experience is developing and presenting professional learning on legal and compliance topics.
- Experience in running strategic projects with successful outcomes.
- Experience in designing, implementing and evaluating organisation wide frameworks.
- Understanding of and experience with quality improvement frameworks.
