You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.This role is responsible for leading tobacco and e-cigarette compliance and enforcement related activities across NSW.The Manager will ensure a coordinated approach to the application of the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2008 and Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1966 across NSW to support state-wide regulation and compliance under legislation. The Manager will be an authorised officer under this legislation. This role leads the experienced Tobacco Enforcement Unit and works closely with the Manager Tobacco Policy as part of the Tobacco Control Unit reporting to the Director.Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $139,787 - $161,663 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.For more information, please read the .What you'll be doing
  • Lead and manage the team undertaking e-cigarette and tobacco compliance and regulation activities and projects for the Ministry of Health
  • Plan, manage, monitor, evaluate and report on projects assigned to the team to ensure project outcomes and/or expectations are achieved
  • Analyse emerging research and data and identify the potential impacts on health and compliance objectives
  • Provide high level advice on e-cigarette and tobacco control issues to Senior Executives and key staff within the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies to ensure issues are satisfactorily resolved or addressed
  • Represent NSW Health on internal and external committees working on e-cigarette and tobacco compliance policy issues
  • Understand and interpret relevant NSW and Commonwealth statutory frameworks and legislation in relation to e-cigarette and tobacco compliance.
  • Prepare high quality written reports, briefs, presentations, correspondence, media responses and cabinet documents as required
  • Contribute to broader management processes of the CPH, through planning, budget processes, cooperation and maintenance of effective work arrangements for shared staffing positions as required
About you

  • Developing and implementing contemporary regulatory compliance strategies in a contested and dynamic environment
  • Ability to maintain accurate knowledge of the diverse and complex policy framework in relation to population health, Ministry of Health and related agencies at state and Commonwealth level while managing the day to day operational and logistical environments of an infield team.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, as you will engage with stakeholder groups such as retailers, advocacy groups and other agencies with different expectations and responsibilities while maintaining professional and collaborative relationships.
