Manual Handling Specialist- Aged Care Division

About the Role

The Manual Handling Specialist is a key role in the WHS Team whose primary purpose is to provide Manual Handling coaching, education, and other support to the Aged Care Division (comprising of Residential Aged Care and In Home Care business units). The role will involve frequent travel to Baptcare sites / regions. A Pool Car will be available. This role will also provide support to other areas with the WHS Team as required

Key Duties:

  • Delivery and continuous improvement of Baptcare’s Manual Handling Training Program across the Aged Care Division
  • Provide specialist Manual Handling support/advice/tools to the Aged Care Division, including supporting Manual Handling Safety Walks and WHS Issue Resolution Process
  • Improve WHS performance and reduce Manual Handling injuries through the provision of coaching and instruction
  • Risk Assessment and review of Manual Handling tasks when required
  • Support the broader WHS Team, including delivery of other WHS Training or relevant projects, as required
  • Maintain appropriate data and reporting systems to ensure reporting integrity
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Baptcare’s WHS Management System and relevant WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Successful implementation of Baptcare’s Manual Handling Training Program across the Aged Care Division within agreed timeframes
  • Coaching, instructing, and assisting operational leaders to effectively manage Manual Handling risks across the Aged Care Division to improve WHS performance and reduce Manual Handling injuries
  • Continuous improvement of Manual Handling resources
  • Reduction in Manual Handling injuries across the Aged Care Division
  • Strengthening of Manual Handling controls to reduce the Manual Handling risk rating across the Aged Care Division

About You:

  • Ergonomics, allied health or equivalent qualification (degree or higher)
  • Experience in training and coaching operational staff in Manual Handling
  • Experience in conducting Manual Handling safety walks and resolving Manual Handling issues
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills to achieve business outcomes
  • Practical knowledge of both the Victorian and model WHS legislation, regulation, and codes of practice
  • Degree level or higher qualification in ergonomics, allied health (e.g. physiotherapy, occupational therapy, etc) or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in delivering safety training, including Manual Handling training in a multi-site environment
  • The ability to travel to sites across Victoria and Tasmania
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care sector
