We are currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Metso team located in Canning Vale.

You will join a team of high achieving Service Technicians dedicated to providing technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnel.

This team mobilizes collectively and autonomously based on the needs of our customer sites and the ability to do site-based work is essential. The variety of works offered due to this provides exceptional opportunities for career and skill set growth.

What you’ll do:

  • Analyse, plan, design, develop, automate and implement production methods and procedures to manufacture a variety of production quantities from various materials at competitive cost.
  • Provide technical shop floor support (including subcontracted production) in the areas of manufacturing, tooling, and utilisation of equipment
  • Troubleshoot day to day shop floor problems pertaining to equipment, tooling, raw materials, and design.  Determine source of the problem and work to resolve them.
  • Review new or revised design drawings for manufacturing feasibility, optimum product design feedback and cost using value analyses.
  • Execute a variety of projects involving manufacturing of standard and special products, trial of new methods, equipment and tooling.
  • Recommend, implement new and/or revised process to enhance safety, reduce costs and improve productivity
  • Responsible for manufacturing technology development.
  • Continuously search for potential to improve manufacturing methodologies
  • Ensure permanent change when implementing new methods by establishing the standards for line organization and acting as knowledge owner
  • Support Kaizen activities of the manufacturing unit
  • Participating in new tooling development and realization, also with new orders coming through  Engineering
  • Participate in daily/weekly  unit level management meetings
  • Participate in technology roadmap creation and realization in local global projects.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering
    Minimum five years of experience in industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, product/tool design work or equivalent.
  • Exposure to LEAN manufacturing preferred.
  • Basic quality tools knowledge.
  • Design for Manufacturability knowledge.
  • Risk mitigation tools knowledge (FMEA, etc.).
  • Ability to identify root cause and problem solve manufacturing issues.
    Self- motivated and target oriented.
