A great opportunity exists for a Master V Skipper to join the team at Sail Ningaloo for our 2024 season.
Managing all aspects of a smooth sailing tour operation, responsibilities of the skipper include safety on board, managing crew and guest expectations, interacting with guests, navigating the waters of Ningaloo Reef for guest activities and safe anchorages as well as maintenance of the vessel.
Tours depart Coral Bay on the Ningaloo Reef until the end of October, with the intention of also being available for the 2025 season, and potential for year-round work for the right person.
Roster is provided 2-4 weeks in advance and is aimed to provide a trip on trip off schedule with 2 alternating skippers. This provides a great lifestyle to explore and enjoy the Ningaloo Reef. Accommodation is available based in Coral Bay to rent, or also suitable for DIDO from Exmouth.
About youOur ideal candidate will have previous tourism, skippering and scuba diving experience, take pride in their work, have excellent customer service, organisational and time management skills, express a can-do attitude and be able to lead and motivate a small but fun and hard-working team. A keen interest & knowledge of the marine environment essential.
You will have:- A Master V qualification
- Coxswains or Engineering certificate
- Advanced First Aid & CPR
- Previous tourism experience
- Previous scuba diving experience – PADI DM preferred
- The ability to manage a small team, provide instruction and train new crew where necessary
- Previous sailing experience or willingness and ability to learn
- Excellent wages in line with your experience
