About the Role

Foundation Studies is a pre-university course within the Pathways School at Trinity College that qualifies overseas students for entry to the University of Melbourne and other universities.

This teaching position in the Mathematics2 department in the Trinity College Foundation Studies program. Mathematics 2 is an elective subject that provides students with the skills to succeed in university courses requiring a high level of analytical and logical thought such as required in science, engineering or actuarial studies, and how to effectively communicate mathematical ideas. Students who choose Mathematics 2 must also study Mathematics 1, a subject that is approximately the same as VCE Mathematical Methods (Units 3 and 4).

In this subject, students have one lecture and one tutorial per week. These are 90 minutes in duration, and approximately 15 students are in each tutorial. The first language of most students is not English, and there is an emphasis on improving communication of mathematics in English.

The successful applicant will conduct 2-4 tutorial classes per week to approximately 16 students in each class.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have a relevant tertiary level qualification and demonstrated work experience in teaching students Math, preferably at VCE level, a Foundation Studies Program or University Level.

To succeed in this role, you must have demonstrated experience in face-to-face course delivery and should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members. 

Employment Type:  This is a part-time fixed-term position, commencing 12 August 2024 and ending on 6 June 2025. Fraction can be from 0.2 FTE to 0.4 FTE and is always subject to student enrolments.

Salary: Level B3 - C1 FTE $86,791 - $95,212 plus 11.5% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading
