Mechanical Engineering Manager (Mem)

Manage the mechanical statutory compliance for an established underground coal mining operation, Mackay Coalfields.

Client
My client is a mid-tier mining house that owns and operates several met coal mining operations in Australia. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM) to lead the Mechanical Engineering function for the underground mine and ensure their Mechanical Engineering standards are compliant with all Acts and Regs.
The Opportunity
This is the Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM) position at an established underground coal mining operation in the Mackay Coalfields. The operation is transitioning to a different mining method long-term and in turn, the register/fleet of plant/equipment will be changing too. This position will report into the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, as well as indirectly to the SSE/GM on site. Continuous miners, feeder-breakers, shuttle cars and roof bolters are the main pieces of equipment that the MEM will be responsible for.
Core Responsibilities

• Mechanical engineering compliance and statutory obligations,
• Equipment/machinery standards and compliance audits,
• Management plan reviews, assistance in the development or implementation of strategic asset management plans,
• Site introduction/equipment inspections,
• Plant and equipment availability improvement projects.

Requirements

• Experience as a Mechanical Engineering Manager or Statutory Mechanical Engineer in UG coal,
• A minimum of 5 years’ practical underground coal mine experience,
• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or relevant trade background,
• Must live/reside in QLD (5/2/4/3 roster),
• Must have full AU working rights (no sponsorship on offer here).
