AKJ Services is a local Darwin civil construction company with a wide range of civil projects across the NT. We are seeking a full-time skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with our Foreman and Engineers to contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical systems and components across our projects
Responsibilities include the following:
Design and Planning
- Work closely with the workshop/engineering team to prepare drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical systems and components.
- Assist in estimating material costs, quantities, and machine requirements to ensure unplanned and preventative maintenance can be completed to limit down time to production.
- Liaise with external vendors, contracts and suppliers for parts and equipment
Assembly and Installation
- Select appropriate tools and equipment for various projects.
- Assist in the assembly and installation of new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and controls, as well as hydraulic power systems.
Testing and Maintenance
- Conduct and oversee field and workshop tests.
- Perform fault finding, diagnostic inspections and routine maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
- Document test procedures, results, and technical specifications accurately and ensure its completion within specifications and regulations.
Quality Assurance
- Organize and supervise inspections and maintenance of machines, plant, and equipment.
- Ensure that designs and finished work meet specifications, regulations, and contract provisions.
- Collect, analyse and maintain project files, records and documentation.
Problem Solving and Support
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot issues and propose effective solutions.
- Provide technical support to internal teams as needed.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute innovative ideas and suggestions for the continuous improvement of processes.
Health and Safety
- Adhere to health and safety regulations during all testing procedures and across project sites.
Qualifications:
· Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, or 2 years relative experience in this area
· Proficiency in using CAD software for technical drawings and designs
· Knowledge of health and safety regulations within an engineering environment
· Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members
· Aptitude for working independently and managing time efficiently to meet project deadlines
