What is the role?
As a Mechanical Fitter, the primary focus of your role will revolve around track mounted and stationary machinery, including crushers, screens, conveyors, shredders, chippers, grinders, washing equipment, and similar processing and handling machinery.
Reporting to the Branch Coordinator, a typical day will encompass tasks such as performing maintenance, service, repairs, and troubleshooting on various mobile and stationary equipment. It is crucial to adhere to OEM standards and requirements to ensure optimal performance.
A significant portion of your work will centre around the Terex Finlay brand of screening and crushing equipment. Other brands include Breaker Technology International (BTI), Telestack, Terex Ecotec, Terex Recycling Systems, CBI, Tristar.
This role offers a well-balanced mix of local and site-based opportunities, with travel to regional sites as necessary to support our clients. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation and reliability of diverse mechanical systems in the field.

Overview of the role
- Diagnose, fault find and conduct maintenance and repairs to mechanical and engine systems and hydraulic systems by reading and interpreting technical information, testing pressures and flows, procedures, manuals and applying technical aptitude.
- Diagnose, fault find and conduct maintenance and basic repairs to electrical control systems (12, 24V) by reading schematics, interpreting technical information, testing voltages and continuity and applying technical aptitude.
- Conduct basic welding duties using specific instruments fit for the intended purpose.
- Provide service and customer support whilst completing works on customer sites, both metro and remote locations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports pertaining to condition of equipment, identifying all remedial works required.
- Compile technical record keeping requirements during works including photographic evidence of works undertaken, settings, checks, balances and any other pertinent OEM standard recording and reporting.
About You
Qualifications / Tickets / Licences:
- Full unrestricted ‘C’ Class Driver’s License – HR license is desirable.
- Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting / Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Plant Mechanical or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years post training experience, with experience with heavy industrial mobile plant, mineral processing or bulk materials handling equipment.
- Experience working on mobile screening and crushing equipment, especially hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
