About the roleWorking as part of the maintenance & engineering team, you will provide a high level of support and essential services to allow the port to operate efficiently and safely.
You will be required to;
- Undertake maintenance of infrastructure, fixed plant, mobile equipment, and other port related items.
- Carry out mechanical repairs with an emphasis on planned and predictive/preventative maintenance and identify plant critical spares in consultation with the planning and management team.
- Conduct routine inspections of fixed & mobile plant assets and determine repair actions where required.
- Routine maintenance such as servicing & lubrication.
- Mentor and train workshop apprentices
Day to day these roles are very active, with a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
Skills & ExperienceYou will be a trade qualified Mechanical Fitter or Fitter Machinist with experience in fitting, machining, hydraulics preferably in mining and/or heavy industry.
You will possess sound knowledge and experience working on fixed plant infrastructure commensurate with mining operations i.e. overland conveyors, stackers, feeders.
You will ideally hold current:
- Mechanical Fitter trade (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade)
- Current NT drivers’ licence
- Heavy Rigid Vehicle Licence.
- Relevant High Risk Work Licenses:
- Forklift Licence.
- Dogman ticket.
- Franna & Gantry crane licences or equivalent C6 preferred.
- Working at Heights qualification.
- Confined Space Entry.
You will have a strong desire to expand your skills and be able to adapt to a changing environment. You will be confident and self-motivated with the knowledge of, and ability to, apply safe work and environmental practices in all aspects of your duties and responsibilities.
You must be honest, reliable and be able work both as part of a team and independently.
