Primary purpose of the role
This role requires a high level of involvement with the on-site activities of all aspects of the installation of sheetmetal in HVAC systems including managing of direct and subcontract labour as required.
Key accountabilities
- Read and understand workshop drawings and specifications.
- Thorough knowledge of sheetmetal on-site assembly and installation procedures
- Able to mark out and take measurements for duct pieces utilising appropriate instruments
- Skilled in using cutting tools, shears etc as required to fabricate sheetmetal components on site
- Experienced in joining and assembling of sheetmetal components in accordance with workshop drawings
- Control, monitor and report quality and safety performance on site on a daily basis utilizing information systems and agreed reporting formats.
- Work with team members, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure successful completion of the site aspects of mechanical services projects.
- Control all deliveries of material and equipment to site. Ensure due care is taken of all plant and equipment under their control
- Co-ordinate, in conjunction with the Project Manager, the progress of the project with the client or the client’s representative.
- Interface with the client and other trades to establish good working relationships
- Program the site work on a day to day basis to ensure the job flows smoothly in conjunction with other trades
- Assist on matters such as budget cost reports, variation reports, subcontractor relationships etc.
Typical experience
- Practical and technical capability appropriate to on-site Sheetmetal Installer
- Proven past record of site supervision and relevant experience in sheetmetal installation – 3 years minimum
- Prior experience working with digital management systems with strong knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Plangrid softwares highly regarded.
- Understanding and experience of commercial aspects of projects would be desirable.
