A consortium between Gamuda Australia and Laing O'Rourke has been awarded a contract to start tunnelling on the Sydney Metro West project.
As a result of recent internal progression, the Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke Consortium is looking for a skilled Mechanical Superintendent to oversee and lead the effective delivery of mechanical TBM activities.
About the role
- Provide input into the total Mechanical labour and supervision resources required for the project and the recruitment of workforce.
- Develop strong working relationships with external stakeholders and act as the primary contact for subcontractor representatives, employees and their representatives such as unions.
- Attend weekly meetings to review progress against objectives.
- Ensure that quality of works performed are always met including Safety and Environmental standards.
- Review overall project program and ensure that the proposed works can be delivered in that time and overseeing the management of short to medium term programming.
- Be a visible leader on site by carrying out site walks, addressing the project team and engaging with stakeholders to address any non-conformances or issues.
Your skills and experience
- Proven experience Supervising Mechanical works on Tier 1 projects, TBM and conveyor specific experience is essential.
- Mechanical trade qualification (Essential).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate as part of a supportive high-performing team.
- Strong understanding of programme management, deadlines, and budget controls.
- Ability to drive a positive Safety culture.
Construction includes the delivery of 9 kilometers of twin, metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park; excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta; earthworks, utilities and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde; a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek; and a services facility, crossover structure and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
