THE OPPORTUNITY:

Museums Victoria, Australia's largest public museum organisation is seeking a Media and Communications Support Officer.

We are looking for an energetic and experienced individual to provide administrative and operational support to assist the Marketing and Communications Department with the delivery of media, communications and marketing strategies.

Working with the Media & Communications team, the core functions of this position include:
  • Provision of administrative assistance in the areas of invoicing, budget tracking, media monitoring, database management, event planning and reporting.
  • Preparation of audience-focused communications materials and assets, including; media releases, alerts, distribution lists, social media content, web and digital copy and related promotional materials.
  • Develop, deliver and monitor social media content across Museums Victoria's multiple social media accounts and platforms.
Relevant Skills and attributes:
  • Proven background in administration and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage and communicate up reporting lines.
  • Strong creative communications aptitude both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and keen interest in the media landscape in all formats.
  • Strong interest, understanding and experience in working across social media platforms including creative content production.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and establish positive working relationships.

Reporting to the Senior Media and Communications Officer, this is an exceptional opportunity for a committed individual to apply their skills and gain experience across a wide range of exhibitions, events, experiences and social and scientific communications.

Working across our three museums, this role will best suit somebody who is motivated to learn and establish a career in the media and communications sector.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or possessing equivalent experience in one or more of these fields will be highly regarded.

This role is a full-time, ongoing position. The salary on offer is $55,439 per annum (base of grade) plus 10.5% superannuation.
