Applications are invited for the full-time on-going position of Media Assistant and Electorate Officer (EOA) in the office of Senator Katy Gallagher, based in the Woden Electorate Office in Canberra, ACT.
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with media liaison, media monitoring, interview preparation and issues management
- Assist with the delivery of digital and social media content across a range of channels and platforms
- Drafting media releases and speeches on electorate media and events
- Research and constituent engagement
- Other duties as required
This position would suit a highly motivated individual with demonstrated experience in media and communications.
The applicant should possess the following attributes:
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in IT/social media applications
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work as part of a team,
- Ability to work under time constraints and with minimum supervision
- Capacity to work irregular hours (some evenings, early mornings and weekends) as required
- Driver’s licence would be desirable
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-2023, which include:
- A commencing salary between $67,035 and $70,969 will be negotiated with the successful applicant depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An additional optional allowance of up to $12,531 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
- An employer contribution of 15.4% superannuation will be payable.
A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Australian Government security clearance and be able to hold a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance in accordance with Commonwealth Government requirements.
