The Medical Imaging Department of CHS operates 24 hours, seven days a week, offering a wide range of imaging modalities. The service provides state of the art radiology, MRI, PET, interventional radiology, ultrasound and nuclear medicine services for patients in Canberra and the South East Region of NSW. We are committed to providing our patients with cost-effective, easily accessible subspecialty expertise along with a strong commitment to research and training in advancing the use of imaging for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The Medical Imaging Department is part of the CHS Medical Services Group, which also includes ACT Pathology, CHS Pharmacy, Healthcare Technology Management, the Physician Training Office, the Medical Officer Support, Credentialing, Employment and Training Unit (MOSCETU), the GP Liaison Unit (GPLU) and the CHS Library.

Appointments are available at all levels from first year training to final year advanced (post graduate) training positions (angio/interventional radiology). Applications should be from suitably qualified medical graduates eligible for General registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

DUTIES

  1. Provide competent and efficient clinical Medical Imaging (MI) management of patients of CHS under the supervision and direction of Consultant Specialist Radiologist’s. While clinical MI management includes acute admissions, in-patient reporting, outpatient reporting, inter-disciplinary consults and interventional procedures.
  2. Maintain a co-operative relationship with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  3. Participate in the supervision, training and professional development of junior medical staff as required.
  4. Work within and support a multidisciplinary team approach.
  5. Assist in progression of training in the specialty including participation in the RANZCR teaching program and activities, timely completion of assessments and involvement in research.
  6. Currency in Basic Life Support Course to be attained within three months of commencement with annual refreshers.
  7. Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care.

8.    Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

·         Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

·         Be eligible as a student Trainee with RANZCR.

Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:

  • Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening & vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.

·         Undergo a pre-employment Police check.

·         Demonstrate commitment to training and continuing professional development including participation in relevant teaching programs, activities, and feedback opportunities, involvement in research, and teaching of junior medical staff and/or medical students.

WHAT YOU REQUIRE

These are the key selection criteria for how you will be assessed in conjunction with your resumé and experience: 

1.    Proven commitment to, and enthusiasm for, a career in Radiology including but not limited to

·         Evidence of current/prior Radiology related research

·         Evidence of current/ prior efforts to prepare for Radiology Part I examinations

·         Evidence of current prior Radiology related interest

  1. Demonstrate commitment to the maintenance and further development of skills applicable to the provision of General, Diagnostic and Interventional services.
  2. A strong commitment to the importance of provision of teaching at all levels including medical, nursing, scientific and allied health professional staff, both postgraduate and undergraduate.

4.    A strong commitment to research and evidence of previous research in the field of radiology.

  1. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, work, health and safety (WH&S) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful and kind.
