Support the development and delivery of a new Medical Program at Charles Darwin University (CDU) 

About the Position
CDU is the only Northern Territory (NT) based university and as a place-based regional university it is deeply embedded in our local communities and is planning to deliver a new Medical Program in 2025 that is tailored specifically to the needs of our local community. The purpose is to establish a Medical Program at CDU to graduate and retain more First Nations and local resident doctors in the NT to serve the NT community. The admissions process positively selects for NT First Nations and NT resident students knowing that students drawn from local communities are more likely to remain in those communities when they graduate. 

As the Medical Program Course Coordinator you will have a critical leadership role in the CDU Menzies Medical Program and will lead the development and implementation of the Medical Program curriculum and assessments ensuring the purpose of the program is realised and lead the internal accreditations and reporting requirements for the program.  

About You
To be successful, you will require:

  • A medical qualification
  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and a distinguished academic and/or professional record
  • Postgraduate qualification in medical education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary medical education assessment methodology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the challenges of remote and rural health practice, First Nations health, social determinants of health and the context of the Northern Territory (NT)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in medical education and program delivery including knowledge of accreditation standards and contemporary medical education best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Remuneration 
Appointment to this role will be at Teaching Focused Academic Level D. The base salary will be in the range of $154,069 to $168,544 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $180,260 to $197,196 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
