headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging Mental Health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Canberra work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Canberra. We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and Mental Health services across NSW and the ACT.
About the position
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work collaboratively with young people and their support systems (including as appropriate, their family or carers and other service providers) to identify their support needs, goals and to develop collaborative care plans, ensuring best outcomes are delivered in a youth friendly context.
You will provide high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based, focused interventions, working closely with the other members of the headspace Canberra teams and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for young people referred to headspace Canberra. In addition to working with young people you will work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead in supporting other headspace clinicians by facilitating care planning meetings, providing ad hoc support as required and being a first point of contact should clinicians need support.
This position is suitable for fully registered Mental Health Clinicians with their full APHRA and/or Mental Health accreditation and have the capacity to bill to the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS).
This position can be accommodated as full-time or part-time (3 days per week) and is fixed term until 30 June 2025 with the possibility of extension. Full-time positions have the option to enjoy a monthly RDO.
We are looking for someone with:
- Current AHPRA registration as an Aboriginal health worker, psychologist, provisionally registered psychologist, Mental Health nurse, OT qualified practitioner or social worker accredited with the AASW or working towards full registration.
- Current registration with Medicare Australia to provide services under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)
- Experience in assessment and diagnosis of Mental Health disorders, provision of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies.
- Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with Mental Health and/or substance use problems.
