Adult Community Mental Health Clinician
Multiple permanent positions available (full and part time)

About the role

The North Adult Community Mental Health team deliver a timely and consistent service to consumers/families/carers requiring Mental Health support. Adult Community Mental Health Clinician is required to facilitate urgent assessments and supports to clients in a range of settings.

Community clinicians are required to work a rostered function covering weekends to facilitate urgent assessments and support to clients in their own homes, ED, medical wards and clients from youth and aged services. The duty function includes assessments over the telephone and medication management/support. 

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide evidence based and best practice clinical assessments
  • Attend Mental Health Tribunals and ensure consumers rights are met under the Mental Health Act 2022.
  • Coordinate crisis assessments and admissions to Mental Health inpatients unit. 
  • Monitor physical health conditions and promote physical wellbeing. 
  • Monitor efficacy of medication.
  • Develop recovery plans in collaboration with consumers, families and carers.

Skills and experience

You will have:

  • Recent clinical experience in a range of Mental Health settings, including inpatient/community Mental Health
  • Well-developed Mental Health assessment skills
  • Good knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2022 and other relevant legislation
  • Good knowledge of the recovery model and how this informs engagement with consumers
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond to crisis situations.

This position is paid in accordance with the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement. The classification is Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 (NP81 - NP83, NP74) which ranges from $50.32 - $55.88 per hour
