About the role:
As a Mental Health Nurse you will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, your role will involve providing trauma-informed care to children and young people with high care needs. Your primary objective will be to create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment that helps each child and young person develop daily life skills, achieve educational goals, participate in extracurricular activities and maintain connections with their family and community.
Our services operate on a 24/7 roster model, which means that successful candidates will be required to work a range of shifts, including weekends, active nights and public holidays.
About you:
You have experience working as a Mental Health Nurse for a minimum of 3 years. You possess strong leadership qualities and the ability to collaborate with team members to create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment that fosters growth and development. Whether it involves assisting with daily living skills or providing emotional support, you are always willing to lend a helping hand. Most importantly, you serve as a positive role model by demonstrating characteristics that make children and young people feel safe and facilitate learning.
Skills required:
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong clinical knowledge
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in Mental Health nursing
- You have previous experience working with children and young people
- You can build rapport with children and young people while maintaining professional boundaries
- You possess the ability to manage difficult situations and behaviours and can de-escalate them in a therapeutic manner
- You are committed to providing client-focused services that result in positive outcomes
- You are respectful, empathetic and demonstrate compassion towards others
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- You are proficient in using technology and systems to meet compliance requirements

- National Police Check conducted within 12 months
- International Police Check (if applicable)
