ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent position on a 4:3, 10-hour dayshift family friendly roster, residential on Groote Eylandt.
As the Mine Site Rehabilitation Crew Mentor, you will work with a team of Indigenous Groote Eylandt traditional owners. Together we help unlock each other's full potential (both inside and outside of work). This position is critical to delivering the Rehabilitation Team's purpose statement of “growing people, growing trees”.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Work with the Mine Site Rehabilitation team to plan, scope and safely execute a range of activities including native seed collection, nursery propagation, tree planting, weed management and arboriculture.
• Role model strong visible safety leadership.
• Motivate and coach the team to overcome a range of challenges both inside and outside of work.
• Exchange knowledge and drive two-way learning by sharing mainstream work practices whilst learning aspects of local indigenous culture and work practices.

ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Ability to work alongside indigenous employees to achieve training outcomes and ensure employees remain engaged in day-to-day activities.
• A passion for working in a team to continuously improve the Mine Site Rehabilitation program.
• Familiarity with record keeping systems and ability to operate computer programs including Microsoft Office suite.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Demonstrated experience and/or Qualifications in Mine Site Rehabilitation, Natural Resource Management, Indigenous Employment/Training or similar.
• NT Drivers Licence (C or LR).
• EWP licence, Chemical Ticket advantageous.
