In this newly created full-time role, you will enhance commercial outcomes that support Liquor Barons store owners to achieve the greatest success possible.
Reporting to the Merchandise and Promotions Manager, this is a rare opportunity to secure a merchandise role based in Western Australia within the fun, fast-paced, competitive liquor industry.
The Co-operative
Liquor Barons is a co-operative of over 90 independently owned and operated liquor outlets located throughout Western Australia. The head office is responsible to create and implement best in class merchandise, promotional and marketing strategies.
The Role
- Attend supplier meetings as required alongside the Merchandise and Promotions Manager or independently, and follow up all agreed outcomes.
- Take the lead with store members as the primary point of contact for any queries in relation to merchandise and promotions.
- Prepare and present market and group analysis to help inform commercial decisions, future strategies and to effectively contribute to ranging optimisation.
- Draft promotional programs; balancing the offer, researching market pricing, seizing market opportunities.
- Own specialised promotional programs from end to end ensuring timely and accurate communication with suppliers, the marketing team and stores.
- Collaborate on the coordination and communication of all ranging processes including bi-annual range reviews.
- Take ownership of the group collated order process for our store network, suppliers and our wholesaler.
- Support the delivery of continuous improvement projects and system enhancements within the head office and the wider co-operative.
Collaboration is at the heart of this role.
Within the office, you will work alongside the Merchandise and Promotions Manager and the Promotions Coordinator, and interact daily with the marketing department.
Within the Liquor Barons co-operative, you will be an invaluable resource to support our store network.
Within the industry you will forge strong relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders.
About you
You have the ability to see the detail in the data without missing the big picture. Your analytical skills are matched by your ability to connect with people to influence outcomes.
Your clear understanding of commercial implications combined with your retail operations knowledge allows you to make optimum, well considered decisions to create positive outcomes for our store owners.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline.
- Ideally, 2+ years’ experience in category management or a group level buying role within FMCG or retail.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Power BI with a focus on analysis, forecasting and financial modelling.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise.
- Experience in the liquor industry will be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Police clearance and full driver’s license required.
- Superior communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Hold full, unrestricted working rights within Australia and be based in or actively relocating to Perth.
