You may be asking, what does a Casting and Moulding Apprentice do and how will the skills I learn help my career?In this apprenticeship you will gain the skills to produce sand moulds and cores used to make ferrous and non-ferrous metal castings. If you have a creative mind and enjoy making things with your hands you could be well suited to a Casting and Moulding career. Our client Ingot – Foundry Marine Engineering, based in Hemmant, has been operating for over 40 years, specialising in non-ferrous casting, working with aluminium and bronze metal alloys.Learning your trade in a workshop with a foundry, you will be sand moulding, then casting and finishing a wide range of different driveline products for the marine industry, such as rudders, skegs, couplings, nuts, deck hardware and hatches.Ingot Foundry manufactures for all industry sectors including oil, gas, water and construction industries.Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship will allow you to become qualified in Moulding and Casting and you will earn your MEM31719 Certificate III Engineering – Casting and Moulding. With this qualification, you could progress your career in technical design and fabrication. This is a physically demanding trade but a very rewarding one.
