Metal Roofing - Tradesperson

About the business:

We provide professional trade services to commercial and domestic clientele covering all Building, Plumbing, Roofing, Electrical & HVAC service types. 

We service Cairns, Innisfail and the Atherton Tablelands, including all surrounding suburbs and communities.

We employ 25 to 30 staff, including Carpenters, Electricians, Refrigeration Mechanics, Plumbers, Roof Plumbers and Administrative professionals.

Our business premises is located in Portsmith, Cairns, QLD. 

Position advertised:

We are looking for a casual Metal Roofing Tradesperson to join our Cairns based team.
 

The applicant should consider themselves a organised and reliable individual with relevant trade based experience.

Qualifications:

1. A suitable applicant must hold one of the following trade certificates:

• Certificate II in Metal Roofing; or
• Certificate III in Roof Plumbing.
   

2. A suitable applicant must hold all of the following licences / qualifications:

• Manual Class C Drivers Licence (QLD).
• Construction Induction Card (QLD White Card).
• Work Safely at Heights Course (RIIWHS204E).

3. A suitable applicant must hold a National Police Check (obtained within the last 12-months).

Experience:

The suitable applicant should have a minimum of 2-yearsexperience in Metal Roofing.
 

Casual work hours:

As a guide, our current roofing crew have averaged regular work hours of 34-hours per week.

If regular work hours and patterns of work are achieved by the successful applicant over a 12-month period, the applicant will be presented with a permanent full-time employment offer.

Business work hours:
Due to the nature of work, the start and finish times may vary to achieve more favourable working conditions for our roofing crew in the hotter months.

As a guide, our standard business hours for trade based staff are;

• 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday.
• 7:30am to 2:00pm Friday.

You will be required to travel to our business premises each morning in Portsmith and you will be provided with a work vehicle to take to the job site.

Benefits:

• $57 per hour.
• Superannuation of 11% paid on top of the advertised rate.
• Paid weekly on a Thursday.
• Full set of work uniforms (x5) and work boots (x1).

Tasks & responsibilities:
Below are a list of the tasks & responsibilities associated with the advertised position, this list forms the basis of our overall expectations.

• Liaise with clients using necessary forms of communication including in-person, phone, email, or text as required to fulfil the needs of the client. 
   
• Carry out the installation, repair & maintenance of Metal Roofing including metal facia's, gutters, flashings, and cappings. 
   
• Provide knowledge, guidance, training & support to apprentices. 
   
• Competently complete the entry of data into the company’s job management software via mobile phone app for each assigned job, quote, activity, or task. 
   
• Always maintain a clean appearance whilst at work, including a well pressed work uniform with a tucked-in shirt, belt & buttoned sleeves. 
   
• Demonstrate safe work habits & proper care of company vehicles, tools & equipment.
