Overview of the role
An exciting opportunity is now open for a Metallurgical Planning Metallurgist to join the team.
Providing support to the Senior Technologist – Business Analyst, the objective of this role is to identify improvements, site natural gas forecasting, concentrate management as well as processing of residues, internal recycle materials and minor raw materials.
To be successful in this role, you will need to work collaboratively with the plant metallurgists to optimise treatment of the respective materials onsite while minimising the inventory levels within the current process constraints. Concentrate management will require engagement with various stakeholders across the business and to oversee the utilisation of the material storage capacity onsite in line with the agreed delivery schedules.
This role is also required to maintain the site stocks database integrity by working closely with the weighbridge operators.
This role is residentially based in Port Pirie, South Australia, operating on a Monday-Friday roster. Ideally the successful candidate will already be residentially based or willing to relocate to Port Pirie. Relocation assistance will be provided if required.
Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide metallurgical support to the Senior Technologist – Business Analysis
- Perform detailed analyse as required to optimise the Metallurgical Planning processes
- Develop and maintain systems as necessary to enable efficient reporting and analysis of raw materials and production statistics
- Assist with development of the annual site production plan and analyses to optimise supporting models
- Provide reporting of actual performance against plan and forecast
- Create and optimise procedures as required
Qualifications, Skills & Experiences:
- Formal qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or similar
- 2+ years in a similar chemical engineering role
- Superior Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively
- Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging global environment
