About us

Laverty Pathology is part of Healius' Pathology division, one of Australia's leading providers of private medical laboratory and pathology services. We operate about 100 medical laboratories and 2,000 patient collection centres across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. Each year, we provide one in every three pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia's largest and most complex private and public hospitals to small and remote Australian Aboriginal communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the training of new collectors in pathology collection techniques
  • Responsible for the on-going training needs and assessments of new and existing collectors.
  • Responsible for delivering other training programs as required.

Training & Assessment:

  • Welcome and train new collectors, ensuring they're equipped to excel.
  • Keep meticulous training records and conduct assessments to track progress.
  • Make sure our training procedures are followed to the letter.

Operational:

  • Be a champion for Laverty's Procedures and Policies.
  • Use your people skills to coordinate, delegate, and help resolve trainee issues.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and the Training Team.

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS):

  • Ensure that all team members receive comprehensive WH&S training.
  • Foster a culture of safety within the workplace.

Required Capabilities:

  • Embrace the art of customer service, building strong relationships by meeting patient needs.

Essential/Desirable Requirements:

  • Pro-level skills in adult and paediatric specimen collection, including ECG, Holter, Swabs, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor, Spirometry and Urine Drug Screening (AS4308) collections.
  • Certificates III (Pathology Collection) and IV (Training & Assessment).
  • Over 5 years of Pathology Specimen Collection experience.
  • Excellent Communication skills in delivering training material, both verbally and in writing.
  • Hold a Working with Children Check.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Hold a valid C Class Driver's license and the ability to travel across Metro Sydney

Training

All new Collection Trainer positions will receive full training upon commencement.
