We're on the lookout for a versatile, honest, individual with general knowledge in both cereal cropping and animal husbandry.
The ideal candidate will excel in operating a diverse range of machinery for cereal cropping, possess strong skills in livestock care and feeding, and exhibit proficiency in general farm maintenance. Mechanical know-how, initiative, and clear communication are essential attributes for success in this role, coupled with a proactive approach to farm tasks of all kinds. A candidate willing to learn these skills will also be considered.
The ideal candidate will come prepared with strong references and a genuine commitment to long-term employment. Having an HR truck license and certifications in ChemCert, mechanical, and welding abilities will be viewed favourably.
As part of this role, you'll actively engage in dryland farming tasks covering up to 800 hectares annually. This includes cultivating crops like canola, barley, and lupins, in addition to overseeing hay and silage production.
You'll play a vital role in all farming operations, from land preparation through to harvesting, and help take care of a herd comprising 400 breeder cattle and 6,000 merino sheep.
While experience with self-propelled spray rigs is desirable, training can be provided for suitable candidates. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial for success in this role. Our client's operation is a family-owned and operated business, spanning two generations.
