We require an experienced Paediatrician to be an effective leader, with a passion for providing world class paediatric services in a rural environment. As a key figure you will promote patient quality and safety whilst providing leadership, training, supervision, and education. A sub specialty interest would be welcomed.
About the Paediatric service at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital
In January 2016 the new purpose built Wagga Wagga Base Hospital was opened. Facilities include a 21 bed Paediatric Unit including a dedicated 8 bed paediatric short stay unit. We also have a 7 bed purpose built special care nursery providing in-patient services. Our current role delineation is a level 4 paediatric service and level 4 neonatal unit. Earlier this year we opened a purpose built health hub with office space, teaching facilities and clinics.
The New emergency department is equipped with a dedicated 6 bed paediatric unit. There are 38,000 presentations per annum to the Emergency Department 30% of which are Paediatric. The obstetric department delivers almost 1000 babies per year with a further 600 delivering at the nearby private Calvary Hospital.
The Paediatric unit has very strong links to the Sydney Children's Hospital Network.
This position provides a great opportunity to practice a wide range of Paediatric medicine in both a public and private setting. There are also options available for Private Practice within the MLHD footprint.

Provide contemporary comprehensive Paediatric specialist services for optimal patient outcomes. Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

• Holds unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatrician.
• Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatrics at the role delineation of the service.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
• Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
• Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
• Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
