Mobile Maintenance Planning Superintendent

Mount Gibson Iron Limited is an established independent Australian producer of premium quality direct shipping iron ore (DSO) with assets in the Kimberley and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.

Mount Gibson's flagship operation is the Koolan Island mine, located approximately 140km north of Derby in the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley. The mine is Australia's highest-grade producer of direct-shipping grade hematite, with an average Ore Reserve grade of 65.5% Fe.

About the role:

We are now seeking to employ an experienced Planning Superintendent at our Koolan Island Operation on a 12 days on / 9 days off or 8 days on / 6 days off (12-hour day) roster from Perth, Broome or Derby.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the primary focus of this role is working in conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisors and Reliability Engineers, develop and implement planned maintenance schedules for all plant and equipment onsite.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Establishing, maintaining and improving Maintenance Planning procedures and processes
  • Establishing and maintaining maintenance history for all plant and equipment
  • Establishing and monitoring planned maintenance schedules for plant and equipment
  • Maintaining computer based scheduling systems and records
  • Planning, organising and monitoring planned shut-down maintenance
  • Liaison with and scheduling of maintenance contractors as required
  • Allocation of work and performance monitoring of subordinate staff members
  • Establishment and management of Maintenance Baselines for all prime assets
  • Development and maintenance of asset management plans to ensure asset integrity and a consistent approach across the site
  • Adopt continuous improvement and innovative approaches in asset maintenance management, including Reliability Centered Maintenance and Task Analysis
  • Comply with organisational processes to ensure all the requirements of all acts, codes, regulations and agreements are met
  • Conduct of Maintenance / Production forums for the purpose of developing agreed work priorities and schedules
  • Ensure all new projects and plan modifications are progressed to meet operational requirements, have appropriate and agreed levels of operability, reliability and maintainability
  • Ongoing measurement and analysis meaningful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) metrics to enable affective performance measurement of Planning Department functions.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Current, valid WA 'C' class drivers licence
  • Minimum 5 years' Maintenance Planning experience
  • Demonstrated maintenance management skills and experience
  • Experience in liaison and OEM and Equipment Suppliers on engineering and maintenance issues
  • Experience in Asset Management and Logistic Engineering
  • Challenges and analyses situations, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Works persistently to exceed the requirements of the job
  • Capable of performing to strict deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing task requirements and priorities
  • Process improvement
  • Experience in managing schedules and budgets
  • Competent in Mining Software including Pronto or similar
