We are currently seeking a focused, experienced and self-motivated Handyperson to join the busy team at the Hunter Gateway Motel. The motel boasts 63 spacious rooms and operates 7 days a week.
Reporting to the General Manager, our Handyperson role is predominantly an outdoors role and is responsible for the overall repairs and maintenance and the day-to-day upkeep of the motel & grounds.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with repairs and maintenance to motel accommodation rooms;
- Liaising with the General Manager and trades’ people to resolve maintenance issues in the most efficient and cost effective manner;
- Servicing and cleaning requirements as per the maintenance schedule, ensuring all tasks are completed at the required standard;
- Identifying areas to maximise profit and minimise cost in relation to maintenance tasks;
- Mowing & edging lawns, and:
- Assisting guests with all queries and complaints and providing accurate information to guests; about the property facilities and features.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A can-do, responsible, and flexible approach to work with a strong work ethic;
- Prior experience in a commercial or maintenance function in a similar environment;
- Previous trade employment or handyman skills, plus gardening/grounds keeping knowledge;
- Exceptional customer service skills; including friendly customer service demeanour;
- Proven ability to be a proactive individual with strong organisational and time management skills;
- Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills;
- A passion for exceeding guest expectations and providing a high standard of guest service;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Exceptional personal presentation and grooming;
- Knowledge of correct manual handling techniques and WHS awareness; and;
- A strong appreciation and compliance of workplace safety.
This role is casual, working a spread of shifts over a 7-day roster, including weekdays & weekends. Working hours are also flexible to suit the right candidate.
