About the Role
The Movement & Safety team works in partnership with stakeholders and communities across six municipalities in the Gippsland Region of Victoria. The team explores, develops and delivers solutions to move people and goods efficiently and safely while being sensitive to the needs and importance of enhancing key destinations.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
- Clear and action orientated advice – Provides clear advice on the status of the program, projects and issues affecting delivery. Consider and recommend options to improve program and project delivery.
- Innovative Road Safety – The incumbent’s expertise and knowledge has contributed to the planning and management of regional road safety and innovative road safety improvement solutions have been identified on the network.
- External Stakeholder Satisfaction – a key source of knowledge for road safety advice and influence within their portfolio. Gains the respect of stakeholders and is regarded as a subject matter expert in the field.
- Internal Stakeholder Satisfaction – Developed strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders and focuses on understanding stakeholder issues. A positive working environment has been established with high levels of trust and collaboration.
- Systematic approach - uses various tools to identify emerging transport network issues to help shape priorities and challenges aligned with organisational goals.
- Creative and advanced problem-solving - resolves complex road safety issues in line with the safe system approach including promoting innovative ways to address behavioural issues and applying principles-based decision making.
- Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
About you
You’ll join the Gippsland team ideally with experience in Traffic Engineering and Road Safety. You’ll be a strategic leader with strong communication and engagement skills, who also considers any politically sensitive matters when delivering on your priorities. Your strong analytical and technical skills will allow you to provide sound advice. You’ll also be creative and innovative, able to solve complex problems.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Experience relevant to the capabilities of the role.
Desirable
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, project management or a related discipline.
- Road Safety accreditation course(s) and understanding of Safe System practices
