Energy Queensland have permanent opportunities for multiple Substation Design Paraprofessionals located in Brisbane (Newstead), Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton and Townsville within our Operations team.
About your new role:
As the successful candidate your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
• Deliver both primary and secondary systems detailed electrical designs for a range of high-voltage substation projects within the Queensland electricity network.
• Provide technical advice, conceptual and detailed design solutions.
• Coordinate design outputs with other design disciplines such as Civil/Structural, Mechanical, SCADA/Telecommunications, Transmission Lines, Distribution Lines, Protection and Metering to produce a fully integrated design product.
• Be the point of contact for providing design support during construction activities for projects.
Essential Selection Criteria include:
• An Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (or relevant equivalent qualification), or
• An Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering (or relevant equivalent qualification) supported by a relevant technical or ‘trade’ qualification.
Please note, only applications with valid Australian working rights will be considered for this position.
The roles are broadband graded as a PP3/PP4 position, and the remuneration is from $128,195 – $148,062 plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and from $144,861 - $167,310 plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight . This figure includes the 8.63% consumer price index (CPI) increase, in effect as part of the current enterprise agreements from the last pay period of February 2024

About you:
You have knowledge and experience in the design principles and practices of indoor and outdoor substation primary plant design and/or secondary systems designs, as well as having experience in the use of CAD software and applications for the production of detailed design drawings and models.
Your experience includes:
• Knowledge and understanding of electricity industry networks and substation environments.
• Undertaking detailed electrical designs of primary and/or secondary systems associated with substations.
• Experience using CAD systems to create models that support detailed design products.
