About the Role

Exciting opportunity to bring your creativity and story ideas to the News team in WA. Broadly, the role involves creating video and stills content and sound recording across broadcast and digital news. Reporting to the News Editor WA, the role will include:

  • Working collaboratively with journalists, producers and directors to achieve excellent and creative visual treatment of news stories.
  • Delivering distinctive video and stills that add significant value to the newsroom output across broadcast and digital platforms.
  • High level editing, including field editing and effects editing in a high pressure environment.   
  • Engaging in News events and issues to develop production ideas and concepts for stories and story projects.

About You

You have high-level knowledge and advanced skills as a multi-skilled operator including camera operation:  shooting complex sequences and stories as well as setting up complex live cross links, advances stills content creation, editing and sound recording. You will also bring:

  • Sound independent artistic judgement in video editing.
  • Familiarity and experience in use of programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop. 
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of the newsroom team.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts across a seven-day roster and to adapt to changing work practices as required.
