The Museum Curator leads a team responsible for the daily operation of strategic development of Revolutions Transport Museum. This role is responsible for the provision of contemporary, responsive and fit for purpose management of the built and moveable heritage collection at Whiteman Park. In this role you will build strong relationships with visitors and stakeholders through meaningful engagement and open communication, bringing them on our journey in respecting our cultural heritage and learning from our stories.
Successful outcomes of the role are the effective conservation and interpretation of the built and moveable heritage collections managed by Whiteman Park, including the Whiteman Collection and Revolutions Transport Museum, and the effective management of the team that supports these outcomes.
This is a fixed term, 15 hours a week, part-time position for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension. This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate:

  • Considerable experience in a curatorial environment with a sound understanding of contemporary museum practices and programming.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of current and emerging trends in a museum and collection management environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking research and analysis for archival and interpretation purposes, as well as developing fit for purpose policies and procedures for collection management and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and provide access to a moveable heritage collection through exhibitions and museum programming.
  • Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context of Leading Others as outlined below.
